Our Story
Logos Counseling Initiative, founded by Jonathan and Leah Smith in 2025, began with a simple conviction: that every person is created with inherent dignity, purpose, and worth. Born out of a desire to integrate faith, meaning, and mental health, our practice was created to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s deepest challenges.
Both Jonathan and Leah have spent many years in the mental health field, both personally and professionally. Through their own counseling journeys and their work with others, they have seen firsthand the profound impact of safe, high-quality mental health care. Their vision for Logos Counseling Initiative is to create a space where others can encounter the same transformation and hope.
At Logos Counseling Initiative, we don’t just offer therapy—we create space for healing, growth, and the rediscovery of purpose amidst suffering. This is our story, and we invite you to make it part of yours.
What’s behind our name?
The word Logos (pronounced LAH-gahs) is used to describe Christ as the divine Word—God’s truth and wisdom made present among us: “In the beginning was the Word (Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Here, Logos reflects both God’s eternal truth and His desire to bring light, meaning, and life into the world.
In psychology, logotherapy—founded by Viktor Frankl—draws on the same Greek word. It emphasizes that the search for meaning is the central motivation of human life, and that even in suffering, people can discover purpose and hope.
We chose the word Initiative because it reflects both movement and mission. Counseling is not simply about sitting in a room and talking—it is an active journey that calls for courage, purpose, and growth. Our desire is to be more than just a counseling practice; we want to embody a movement that extends beyond our walls, bringing hope, healing, and wholeness to the individuals, families, and communities we serve. By using the word Initiative, we affirm that this work is ongoing, intentional, and bigger than ourselves—a collective effort to foster lasting change.
By naming our practice The Logos Counseling Initiative, we bring these concepts together. We believe that healing is found at the intersection of God’s truth and the human search for meaning. Our mission is to walk with you in discovering clarity, purpose, and hope, so that you can live more fully into the life you were created for.
