MA
Pre-Licensed Counselor

Suzie's early interest in counseling came from a sincere desire to help others feel supported and understood. She began her studies in Psychology at Georgia State University, but her career first led her into the medical field, where she observed the significant emotional strain faced by patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Those years shaped her conviction that compassion and consistent support can make a meaningful difference in someone's healing journey.

She eventually returned to Georgia State to complete her degree and went on to earn her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University.

Her own story has also shaped her clinical voice. As a mother of two adult sons, Suzie has walked through seasons of grief, growth, and transformation, including remarriage. These experiences inform her belief in the power of love, redemption, and emotionally engaged relationships. She approaches counseling with a commitment to helping individuals and families build connections that support lasting change.

Suzie integrates Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), drawing on evidence-based practices that promote emotional safety, insight, and relational growth. Her clinical experience includes individual counseling and group facilitation in addiction-focused PHP/IOP settings, where she strives to create structured, emotionally safe environments that support stability and deeper exploration.

About Me

I work with adults and adolescents facing anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, addiction-related concerns, chronic stress, and major life transitions. I also support family members of individuals navigating addiction, offering a steady place to process what can often feel like a very lonely experience.

Because of my years working in the medical field, I also have a particular heart for seniors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who often carry significant emotional and relational burdens.

My approach blends structure with compassion. CBT helps clients understand patterns and build practical tools, while attachment-based work supports deeper emotional processing and relational healing. When desired by the client, I integrate Christian faith in a collaborative way that honors each person's values and comfort level.

One of the most meaningful invitations I ever received was, "I don't know where you are in your journey; I'm just honored that you're here." I extend that same welcome to my clients. Whether faith is central to your life or not, I meet you where you are with humility, curiosity, and respect.

When I'm not counseling, I enjoy camping with my husband and our dog, kayaking on nearby lakes and calm rivers, and spending time with family and friends.
